The Nobelwoman's rooms, Roccastrada, Grosseto - Toscana
On the heights that slope down from the Colline Metallifere towards the Maremma, in the northern part of Grosseto province, in a dominant position and surrounded by greenery, stands a majestic castle from the 11th century, the only one still existing in that area, which the Sienese ravaged at the end of the 1200s. The structure is a typical fortification: high surrounding walls, a central square, low local stone buildings leaning against the walls, and a single entrance; there is no shortage of decorative details to soften its appearance. Practically intact, despite the bombings of 1945, it is now divided into several units, which can be purchased as a whole or separately. The entrance to the apartments is on the common square, in stone and terracotta; the interiors are rustic, with exposed beams, terracotta floors, old fireplaces, and stone inserts. In the surrounding land, of about 10 hectares, a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the valley can be built.
